The LOOP: Right-arm over the wicket in December 2008

14 December 2008

Good evening this morning! Magnificent that summer has arrived - Test cricket is being played in balmy 13 degree conditions in Dunedin while the rest of New Zealand basks in 20+ and endless summer ales with Bryan Waddle and Tony Cozier chipping away on the wireless. What could be better, apart from (a couple of elusive Test centuries)?

WELLINGTON - We are off to Australia for the Double Headbutt tour to Melbourne (ODI, 6 Feb) and Sydney (ODI 8 Feb) from 5-9 February 2009. Book your own international flights into Melbourne and out of Sydney and get along to the games with The Beige. We are locking down accommodation and tickets on 19 December so let us know if you are a starter ASAP by emailing BeigeHQ@beigebrigade.co.nz

TASMANIA - If you haven't seen the Goldstein-esque Commonwealth Bank of Australia ads yet, check them out here. It almost makes you stop hating Australia's greatest ever captain, Mike Hussey (but not quite).

WELLINGTON -  Stock up on Beige Brigade clobber for Christmas - shop is here. We have a lounge full of Beige Brigade shirts in most sizes, a washing basket full to the brim with Beige Brigade jandals, and the filthy brown Stubbies are being reloaded this week. Make sure you look ridiculous when you ar eat the cricket this sunny summer.

LONDON - Beige HQ's having a long overdue Spring/Autumn clean and in the Christmas spirit...we have loads of old stock Beige Brigade t-shirts to donate to any touch/football/rugby/netball/drinking teams based in London. Just drop a line to mike@beigebrigade.com and cruise into Beige HQ in Covent Garden to stock up! The majority are M, L and XL so hobbits and Gandalfs need not apply. Just trying to avoid donating them to charity and then spotting beige-clad bums sleeping in the Tube...although we have a funny feeling that may happen regardless.

WELLINGTON- The hub of Beige HQ's humungous communications unit has been busy unleashing in various forums - for example the Sideline Slogger has been relentless on Stuff, a related entity at Cricinfo's Different Strokes blog (with plenty of feral comments) has also had a few things to say, and the BYC Podcast is back to its defamatory and intermittent best.

LONDON - ANZAC Day 2009: The Beige Brigade Gallipoli 2009 Tours are all go! If you are in the Northern Hemisphere this is a MUST DO. The Beige Brigade offers the only 100% Kiwi ANZAC experience - we explore areas and places of massive NZ significance on the Gallipoli Peninsula that others just pass by on the way to Lone Pine. Secure your place from £99, choose from 16-day, 9-day and 4-day options - all available here...you get what you pay for so don't jeopardize an awesome experience by being lured into a cheap and nasty option! Check out all the photos and videos from last year's adventures to Turkey for ANZAC '08: http://www.beigebrigade.co.nz/gallery/album73.

AUCKLAND - The Auckland Cricket Indoor School was the venue for one of the year's televisual highlight so the year: Pulp Sport's Bill and Ben in a "Sporting Hell" segment which involves limited protection and some deadly accurate bowling from one D Tuffey. Enjoy here.

LONDON - Easter Ski Trip 2009 - Coming Soon: Look out! The Beige Brigade have always prided themselves on being on the cutting edge of Ski fashion with the multipurpose Lycra speed suit being deployed on the slopes on several occasions. We are looking to invade the slopes of the French Alps over the Easter break in '09. So keep an eye on the tours section for The Beige Ski-wi Week.

WELLINGTON - Look who got selected as an expert in the NZ 2008/09 Season Guide  in all half-decent magazine shops now and no doubt being hocked off at games all summer. Hint: the expert is not Mike. At the time of writing the Beige Brigade expert had incorrectly predicted the Aussie Test series result and was regretting not having picked Wellington to win one of the domestic competitions after bumping into the Wellington coach in the supermarket the other day. Note also that the best eyebrows in NZ sport (DJ Cameron) selected NZ to win ZERO Test or ODI series this summer. Thanks for your support Don!

LONDON - Beige Brigade GRAND SLAM Visuals: The photos from the Beige Brigade Grand Slam tours to Edinburgh, Dublin and Cardiff are all online now for your viewing pleasure - a sensational result all-round for everyone involved.

AUCKLAND - RIP Hedley Howarth. Kiwi cricketing legend.

LONDON - Waitangi Circle Line Pub Crawl: This will be held on Saturday, 7 February 2009. And the fact that even though alcohol on the Tube has been banned...do not let that stand in your way. We have the solution right here: load up on Sneaky Binoculars and Sneaky Shorts
