New Zealand cricket are on the verge of signing a lucrative deal with a major sports apparel company.
The contract with Wellfit, who produce the W-Star line, expires soon. It is a small player by world standards but when the contract was signed, cricket was a particularly tough sell. Now multinationals are queuing up to tap into the cash-rich Indian market. A number of companies have expressed interest including, in jest - the Beige Brigade. It is unlikely, however, they will be able to compete with adidas who sponsor Australia. India and England are sponsored by Nike and Admiral.
