Episode 36 has just been uploaded - will be on iTunes and RSS and all that propeller headed techo stuff in the next 24 hours…

The Woman Slayer’s aural tribute to cricket’s newest knight - Sir Beefy: The Wanderer was recorded and released this week after a couple of pints. You can hear it below…

Sensational! Just head over here to see the dust-ups featuring Eric Rush, Frank Bunce, Kerry Walmsley and Andrew Penn.

What a wonderful quote:
“I’m not bowling as well as I’d like to, but
I’m still trying my nuts off
to contribute to the team, and Liam’s battling as well,” said Harmison. “You can’t see what’s going on in people’s heads. There are so many people giving you so much advice, so many people saying you’ve got to ‘relax and it’ll come easy if you think natural’. It’s easy for you to say, because it’s not you that’s got to bowl that ball.”

Episode 35 was unleashed today, subtitled the “Cup O Tea” episode. Features this week include Kev’s Nelson Mandela Men of Colour XI; News or Ruse is with Gary Sobers, Graeme Hick, cricket reality TV in India and at the World Cup auction. The Woman Slayer unleashes Johnny B Goode. Dan’s Bet365 tip, Billy loses it, plus a series of emails in Emo Corner…

Thanks to what we think is the one and only - or certainly the first we’re aware of - French member of the Beige Brigade - bonjour and kia ora to you Tommy and good luck with that French cricket practice! Your dress sense will make them scared if not your latent cricketing abaility…

Sometimes when you’re having a bit of a shithouse day, and email like this is just wonderful to get through - and it is what the Beige Brigade is all about:

To: “Beige Brigade HQ”Hi
Basically, i’m just emailing you to let you know how great your website is. My dad
is a massive cricket fan and turns 60 this august, so i’ve just ordered the classic
shirt and some sweat bands, because i couldn’t ever think of a better gift. Also,
it’s been a long time since i laughed as hard as i did at the revolting lycra suit.
Keep it up ladies and gents, utterly magical stuff.

Buckle up England - here we come!
From the BBC:
England will face New Zealand in three Tests followed by a four-Test series against South Africa in 2008. The Tests against the Kiwis will take place at Lord’s, Old Trafford and Trent Bridge, followed by a Twenty20 game and five one-day international matches.
John Carr, director of England Cricket, said: “One of the scheduling parameters we had to deal with was that the 2008 season has to end in early September to enable both England and South Africa the opportunity to travel to the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
“The 2008 season will include a Wednesday start as well as four Thursday starts and two Friday starts for npower Test matches. In a busy summer we feel that this sequence gives the players the maximum opportunity for rest and recuperation.”
England have a good home record in Tests against South Africa (only nine defeats in 57 games) and New Zealand (four losses in 47 matches). They beat the Kiwis 3-0 the last time Stephen Fleming’s men visited in 2004…
New Zealand in England in 2008
15-19 May 1st Test, Lord’s
23-27 May 2nd Test, Old Trafford
5-9 June 3rd Test, Trent Bridge13 June Twenty20 International, Old Trafford
15 June 1st ODI, Riverside
18 June 2nd ODI, Edgbaston
21 June 3rd ODI, Bristol
25 June 4th ODI, The Oval
28 June 5th ODI, Lord’s
Thanks to Neil for this one - what a high-class match!
Goldsborough 2nd XI batted first and piled up a sensational total 5 of in 57 minutes - with all 10 players scoring ducks and S Tomkinson 0*. G Hardisty was the pick of the bowlers with 5.5. overs, 5 maidens, 7 wickets for 0 runs - not bad. In reply Dishforth 2nd XI smashed 6 for the loss of 2 wickets (a couple more ducks there too) with Dan Bettles proving to be the Sachin Tendulkar of the match, and only run scorer with 5*.
What rules is that their club website is celebrating the disgraceful effort with all the fall-out from the media there for you to explore.
…as there really is no excuse for such dreadful material to ever be written, let alone produced, and then broadcast. It makes the local Sky Sport ads seem almost good. Long hard look at yourselves, 3 Hail Marys and an uppercut please Surrey CC. The Times take on it is here.
Buckle up - it’s a Queen’s Birthday Sunday edition of The BYC, our renegade podcast from here in New Zealand. This week it is time for Kev’s Hansie Cronje XI, the News or Ruse goes to India, Ireland, Shane Warne’s, and give our 10 cents on who should head up the ICC. The Woman Slay unleashes his new smash hit as he remakes Rick Springfield’s Jesse’s Girl. Dan Vettori gives us his Bet365 tip plus a series of emails in Emo Corner…
