The Lankans haven’t held back after they thumped us in the smi-final. Here’s Kumar Sangakkara in The Telegraph…
We expected a different sort of wicket in Jamaica and got a pleasant surprise. It was very dry and we were very confident, especially with Lasith coming back. Looking at the New Zealanders, they were pretty flat in the warm-ups and their body language fell away during the game. They were a lot of visuals for us that they weren’t up for a win, and it was a fantastic captain’s innings by Mahela.

This is a magnificent treat - from Sports Tonight just now - mighty!

One of the hardore of the Beige Brigade, Chooky, this week completed the gruelling London Marathon. He came in 3920th out of 36,394 starters and knocked the bastard off in 3:31:32 - ridiculously quick.

Scruffy Beige Brigade insider Dan Vettori is interrogated by the hard-hitting CaribbeanCricket.com crew this week. Highlights include:
Were you always a spinner when you first started to play any kind of cricket? No, most people in New Zealand when they start bowling they are medium pace bowlers trying to be Richard Hadlee, but it wasn’t for me so I changed around at about 15.
You wear glasses; I wear glasses and I have just always wondered how do you manage to play in them, especially with the helmet on. Has the glasses ever got in the way? No, not at this stage. I’m sure it’s going to happen one day but I’ve worn glasses since I was three years old, so I’m pretty comfortable with them. I’ve tried contact lenses but it’s not something that’s for me, so I’ve just got to persevere with them.
I’ve read that you like chocolate. Is that true? [Laughs] I don’t know where these things come from but there is no one who doesn’t like chocolate is there?
Have you tried Grenadian chocolate yet? No, I haven’t.
It’s meant to be quite good. What’s the most fun thing that you’ve done in the Caribbean so far in this World Cup? James Franklin and I went out fishing in the Atlantic Ocean and it was so bumpy that he threw up everywhere so it’s been my most exciting thing [laughing].
